Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a profession that blends quality assurance and materials science. NDT is used to inspect and evaluate materials, components, or assemblies’ without destroying their serviceability.
Non-destructive Testing is a critical tool in ensuring the safety and quality of products andsystems. It can be used to test foravariety of potential problems, from cracks and other defects to manufacturing issues. By catching these problems early, you can avoid costly repairs or replacements down the line. This method can also be used to measure the thickness of materials, the hardnessof metals, and the properties of composites.
This technique contains the use of penetrating gamma or X-radiation to examine parts and products for imperfections. An X-ray machine or radioactive isotope is used as a source of radiation. Radiation is directed through a part and onto film or other media. The resulting shadowgraph shows the internal soundness of the part. Possible imperfections are indicated as density variations in the film.
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) uses high frequency sound energy to conduct examinations and make measurements. Ultrasonic inspection can be used for flaw detection/evaluation, dimensional measurements, material characterization, and more.
They work by measuring the time interval between the excitation pulse that generates the sound wave and the first returning echo. The material wall thickness is derived from the relationship between the time of flight of the ultrasonic pulse and the velocity of the sound in the material. In this ultrasonic thickness gauge working principle, pulses are reflected by the probe when they are in contact with an object's material through its surface. Once the pulses are reflected, the thickness of an object can be measured.
Magnetic particle inspection (MPI) is a Non Destructive Testing process where a magnetic field is used for detecting surface, and shallow subsurface, discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials.
Liquid or dye Penetrant testing (PT) is a non-destructive material testing method which uses capillary forces to find surface cracks or pores and make them visible. It can detect surface-breaking flaws such as cracks, laps, porosity.
Eddy current testing is the process of running electronic probes through the length of various types of tubes or along the surfaces of materials in order to find flaws in them. An eddy current is a current that runs opposite to the current introduced by a probe into a conductive material.
An eddy current array, in its simplest form, is a series of single elements arranged in a row, allowing users to cover a larger area in a single pass than conventional, single-coil probes (i.e., pencil probes using (ECT)). However, this could lead to suboptimal results. That's why ECA probes use multiplexing.
TECA – Tangential Eddy Current Array is an array containing coils positioned such that their central axes are aligned parallel to the inspection surface.
Remote-field testing (RFT) is a non-destructive electromagnetic testing technique mainly used to find defects in steel pipes and tubes.
Near Field Testing or commonly called as NFT is one of the electromagnetic testing method used to detect discontinuities on the internal surface of fin-fan type ferromagnetic (Carbon steel) heat exchanger tubes.
Near-Field Array (NFA) is the multiplexed evolution of Near-Field Testing (NFT) Thanks to its increased probability of detection; it is an excellent alternative to IRIS in fin-fan air coolers and ferromagnetic heat exchanger tubing
Magnetic flux leakage is a magnetic method of nondestructive testing to detect corrosion and pitting in steel structures, for instance: pipelines and storage tanks. The basic principle is that the magnetic field "leaks" from the steel at areas where there is corrosion or missing metal.
The internal rotary inspection system (IRIS) is an ultrasonic non-destructive testing (NDT) technique used to inspect pipes and tubes.
Advanced NDT team of Mantek Arabia helps you to inspect complex geometries, much faster than ever before with high degree of repeatability. With PAUT is we create detailed and accurate cross- sections of a part to make it easier and ready for further deep study and analysis. It is also particularly useful in situations where there is less room for mechanical scanning because it’s able to sweep the beam without moving the probe.
Mantek Arabia NDT is equipped with latest PAUT/ TOFD machines and accessories from iconic brands around the world, we also have served a good number of clients in India, Middle East, South East Asia and African countries.
Eddy current testing is most commonly used to inspect surfaces and tubes. It is an incredibly sensitive testing method, and can identify even very small flaws or cracks in a surface or just beneath it. On surfaces, ETC can be done with both ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic materials.
In a phased array, the power from the transmitter is fed to the radiating elements through devices called phase shifters, controlled by a computer system, which can alter the phase or signal delay electronically, thus steering the beam of radio waves to a different direction.
TOFD is usually performed using longitudinal waves as the primary detection method. Ultrasonic sensors are placed on each side of the weld. One sensor sends the ultrasonic beam into the material and the other sensor receives reflected and diffracted ultrasound from anomalies and geometric reflectors.
Tubular inspection is crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of tubing components in various industries. Inspection methods for tubing range from basic Visual Inspection to advanced techniques like Eddy Current Testing, Remote field eddy current testing, Internal rotatory Inspection service, and magnetic flux leakage etc.,
Magnetic flux leakage method used for Tank floor Inspection, the loss of magnetic flux from a magnetic circuit due to a portion of the total magnetic flux following a path that renders it ineffective for the desired function of the circuit. Magnetic leakage reduces the overall efficiency of the operation
